I found it an interesting contrast to more long-term arcs like Rainbow and Rarity’s. It says something about Fluttershy that instead of the long road, she won’t speak her dream until the finish line is in sight.

Yet it was still better than Rainbow’s simply because they didn’t go out of their way to make it as disappointing and unpleasant as possible

The fact that this was actually acknowledged in the leaks makes it that much worse, along with what was originally planned

Seeing that it was due to RD taking a simple nickname too seriously and not even considering that everyone has an embarrassing nickname, she’s the one you should be annoyed at. And all the Wonderbolts do give her a nickname and calls her out when she acts like an idiot. Hazing would be if they went out of their way to humiliate her.

Clearly a contentious episode, at least.

When Rainbow Dash said Spike and Tank were the same, Spike should have said, “Are you stupid or something?”.

So it’s yet another “RD needs to be knocked down a peg for acting out” episode. Did they really think these kind of episodes people want to see for her milestone episode? I wasted 5 years of my life for this shit, especially when they had versions of the episode much more satisfying. I mean, even Jim Miller publicly bailed Twitter a day or two before the episode came out, and all that tells me that even he knew the episode was pants
 
And again, Hasbro acknowledged the hazing implications in the leaks

I think you’re getting too work-up on RD having a bad first week. And at least here, it makes sense considering how much RD likes to stand out outside of the Mane Six. Also, “I wasted 5 years of my life for this shit” makes it sound like the entire show was RD joining them, and that we wouldn’t get episodes of her and the Wonderbolts afterwards, both are untrue. And why do I have a feeling that the “earlier versions” seem good because they never aired, and people will have their own, “perfect” interpretations?

I’m not big on vent threads, so I’ll just drop it.

I’m kinda disappointed in Rainbow Dash as a character because I can’t think of many times she caught herself acting arrogantly and stopping herself before she went too far.

Hurricane Fluttershy when she’s trying to get Fluttershy to participate, she gets aggressive at fluttershy before calming herself down. I can’t think of anything from Season 3-5 where she needed to do anything like that. S6-9 is S6-9. I think the only episode there with anything close to that was The Washouts from S8
