I was thinking Trixie as Mage or Warlock. And the reason I chose Pinkie as the shaman was so she could use Rocky, Sir Lintsalot and the rest as her totems/ elementals. But Pinkie Mage sounds fun too!

Non-Mlp idea for a setting:
 
The Rapture occurs. Humanity loses a sizable chunk of its population in a day. While they are still reacting to that a week later, demons begin invading. While fighting them off is the initial response, they discover a one-in-a-million human being left behind can control them with their minds. Humanity bounces back afterwards built on the backs of demons. But the Controllers are not trusted, said to be agents of evil sent to harvest the remnants of earth’s people, or are really demons themselves(since the older and more powerful they get, the more demonically-tinged they appear).
 
Just something I threw together while watering the plants.

Just out of curiosity, I did a quick tally of all the characters that appear in a story I’m writing. For them to be counted as an actual character, they both a.) have to be named, and b.) have dialogue, even if it’s only a single line.
 
Presently, I’m at thirty-three named characters.

Also, I just typo’d “fanfics” into “fnafics” before correcting it, which got me thinking: would Five Nights at Freddy’s fanfics be called “fnafics”?

An alternate universe where Twilight Velvet falls in love with and marries a zebra. They have a daughter, whom they name Twilight Sparkle, but the younger Twilight can’t help but wonder if there’s another Twilight Sparkle out there in…The Twilight Zony.

Twilight & co are summoned to canterlot where it is revealed the reason is a young filly. with a dark purple coat, deep blue mane.

Ok my oc is an allicorn so just deal and listen. her name is mortem.
 
Mortem,(which means death in latin) Was never perfect and terrible with her horn, unlike her perfect sister. She learned which craft which was frowned upon by the elder ponies. So she was sent to the under world to create peace between the over world and under. She grew too attached to the spirits and let them free, causing Luna and twilight to banish the spirits back to the under world with her, so she would rot for eternity, (It caused lots of harm to every pony thats why). Until one day a unicorn named fate, comes to her aid, and makes a terrible mistake.

King Aspen, called out on what is essentially a war crime, opts to give up his son Bramble so that the two are even. This leads to Brambleshy.

So, after this week’s kinda-sorta Season Finale for Steven Universe, I can’t stop thinking of an FIM AU where the Mane Seven are gems (superpowered humanoid aliens). They’d probably use different names, since all of the gems in the series (sans Steven) have gemstone-themed naming, but I haven’t entirely worked those out yet.
 
Also, all these roles and whatnot are tentative, so feel free to suggest better ideas if you’ve got them.
 
Applejack is a hardworking, folksy earthbound gem (Copal? Copaljack?) and one of the few surviving members of Twilight Sparkle’s heroic “Harmony Gem” faction. Her gem is on the back of her left hand, and she can summon lariats from it.
 
Fluttershy (No gem name decided yet) is a conflicted homeworld gem. She’s been told all her life that the Homeworld’s mission is necessary (which has brought her and her drones into conflict with the Earth’s heroic Harmony Gems), but recent information has come to light that has made her question her position. Her gem is where the back of her skull meets her neck, and she can summon slings from it.
 
Pinkie Pie is a hedonistic-yet-heroic Harmony Gem and Applejack’s teammate. Her gem is on her throat, and she can summon firecrackers from it.
 
Not much is known about Rainbow Dash, except her gem was corrupted and she was imprisoned in an artifact for years. She later escaped and while she blames the Harmony Gems for her imprisonment, she simply wants to return to the gem homeworld. Her gem is on the small of her back, and she can pull javelins from it.
 
Rarity is a homeworld gem bureaucrat who’s used her connections and networking to get assigned to Earth–one of the “easy planets”–for the “Homeworld’s mission.” She’s just trying to do her job, but a rebellious group of earthbound gems calling themselves “the Harmony Gems” keep breaking her expensive technology. Jerks. Her gem is on the back of her right hand, and she can summon swords and knives (that look suspiciously like giant diamond-shaped knitting needles).
 
Spike is an excitable eleven-year-old half-gem half-human hybrid who’s taken up living with the Harmony Gems Applejack and Pinkie Pie to learn his powers and become a hero. While AJ and Pinkie are slightly jaded by years of fighting other gems and gem monsters, he still believes the best in everyone, even the seemingly antagonistic gems like Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Fluttershy. He might hold the hope of uniting the fragmented gem species, or at least gaining a few new gem recruits for the Harmony Gems. His gem is located over his heart, and his abilities right now seem to relate to defending himself and others.
 
In this AU, Twilight Sparkle is the former gem leader of the Harmony Gems and Spike’s mother. She died giving birth to him.

Maybe not substitute Rose Quartz with Twilight Sparkle. They seem almost totally unlike in method and mannerisms. Unless you intend to have all the characters hold completely different ideals and opinions of her.

Yeah, I mean, my goal was not to directly map each FIM character to a SU character (except Spike = Steven, since I like him as the “odd one out”) but rather put them in similar positions to other gems and see how they adapt. I mean, I don’t want to tell the exact same story as SU but with ponies.
 
Like you said, I imagine if Twilight was Spike’s parent and killed-off-for-real, the ideals others held of her would be completely different than Rose Quartz. There’d probably be more of an emphasis on her brilliant mind, for starters.
 
That said, I’m up for suggestions on who should be the “Rose Quartz” of the universe. Celestia could be a possibility, but I kinda like the idea of one of the Mane Six being in that position. It strengthens their bond with the remaining Mane 6, and it kinda gives the same impression of the Crystal Gems being a group one-short.

Oooh! I like the idea of fusions being based on the alicorns. Hell, an alicorn could be on this verse’s version of the Crystal Gems as a semi-permanent fusion.
 
Brad can be Spike’s dad I actually have no idea how I’d do the humans. I mean, this whole thing was mainly so I can think up cool SU-style designs for the Mane 7, their weapons, and their fusions. Maybe the humans are based on the EG background humans? I dunno.
