a world of nudists would not see something like transparent clothing lewd in anyway i would think.
 
Actually, yes they would. Remember how in Rarity’s shop there are dressing rooms? Ponies think nothing about walking around unclothed, but the act of putting on clothes or taking them off is apparently considered lewd. My best guess is that dressing or undressing calls attention to the ponies’ nudity, which otherwise is just ignored.
 
A “see-through” skirt like Rara’s wearing here draws attention to her (unclothed) flank, making it lewd as well. I’m pretty sure this is an example of the artists Getting Crap Past the Radar.

I think it’s as easily explained as it doesn’t matter, they’re all nude otherwise. Why DID they choose a see-through skirt though? It looks just like the veil she had in her Countess outfit actually, so I’m guessing it’s just a hint that she was improvising. She took something bad from her old self and made it good. Maybe that’s partly what AJ noticed there.

Honestly, there is no reason to wear see through clothes unless you want someone to stare at you. Even nude ponies must realize it is an invitation. I wonder what was going through the heads of artists? I wonder how it was allowed? Or am I overthinking this and no one actually thinks see through gowns on ponies are sexual?
