I like to think that Mayor Mare is actually Pinkie Pie’s aunt - due to a similar coat color to Pinkie’s dad and getting pink hair from Granny Pie - but sort of plays down her being related to Pinkie, lest the fickle voters think she’s as ‘irresponsible’ as her niece.
Granny Smith is Applejack’s sister. She suffers a skin condition.
Well, since Granny Smith’s mane is kind of bright for her age, I’d have though mane colours don’t fade with age, and Mayor Mare dyed her mane to appear more professional. Some joke about colour prejudice and seven water fountains for each hue of the spectrum. XD
She just dyes her mane and uses makeup to make herself seem older, and therefore wiser and more trustworthy.
She’s the world’s greatest fake cougar.
Also that art is absolutly adorable, you can feel she wants some Young Pegasus stallion right now… and mayor mare might as well join in.
