MLP has the advantage of being a 20 minute long show, so rushed reformations can be excused in that manner. A 2+ hour long movie shouldn’t pull a 5 second long “realization” to make bitter foes sudden best friends.
To be fair, at that point Supes was somewhat already over it, but Bats was reacting outta anger mostly.
Not to mention, MLP has reformed characters, & such pretty easily too, and is also guilty of that.
Wow, that actually does sound like a pretty silly way to resolve a plot.
It is not so much the coincidence that was the issue in the movie, but that its discover by Bats and Supers immediately ended this extended plot of the hostility they had towards each other (the NC/Angry Joe review image posted earlier in this thread captures how it felt watching it). Yes, they could have bonded over it, and over a reasonable amount of time come to appreciate it and resolve their differences, but it was an instant “we’re friends now because our mothers had the same name!” was laughably silly.
There have been stranger coincidences in past Batman & Superman canons. Some actually had them as best friends when they were kids, and such in some comic canons, and such.
Anyone ever hear of “SuperDickery?” (Not what you think it is, pervs.) It’s a hilarious site chronicling the batshit insane covers & moments from the beloved campy “silver age,” and even other ages.
Comics are weird. lol

Superman’s adoptive (earth) mom, and Batman’s mom are both named Martha. It seems like quite the coincidence.
I’ve never watched the Batman vs. Superman movie, so I can’t say much about it.
It isn’t that “no one understands” it, it’s that everyone understands it and thinks it is one of the stupidest fucking things ever pulled.
What is there to understand?
Too dark and too full of confusing and/or stupid stuff. BvS really started to lose me after that post-apocalyptic dream sequence; without knowing what that was ahead of time I had no idea what I was looking at, and it didn’t even turn out to have any bearing on the movie. Then there’s the stuff that just completely doesn’t make sense like Superman’s dad dieing stupidly, or the world thinking Superman machine-gunned a village of people.
Oh, and too long. Everything starts getting boring at two and a half hours, let alone three.
It’s people who grew up mistaking “dark and gritty = mature” mindset, forgettign that humor is something that can happen naturally and that super heroes are never to be TOO serious.
Yeah, ironically even the Nolan Batman movies weren’t this dark perhaps.
That is the complaint I’ve been hearing everywhere about the current DC movies; that they’re just too dang dark and grim. As one guy told me, “Not every hero needs to be as dark as Batman.”
What I didn’t like though was, there wasn’t enough comic relief, (even the previous dark Superman movie had some funny moments) Lex Luther’s character was a li’l too goofy, and trying too hard to be more like the Joker. Also, some of the religious comparisons/symbolism with Superman were a bit much, I felt even though I’m a christian. (Superman’s original creator meant for Superman to be more like Moses, not Jesus. Superman’s a “hero,” not a “god/messiah.”)
I think the main problem with current DC movies is due to the success of the “Dark Knight” Nolan trilogy, (which were handled much better) they’re trying too hard to make all their movies too grimderp.
Hopefully, the success of Marvel’s “Deadpool,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” (both were awesome) might remind moviemakers that superhero comics are supposed to have some camp, and humor along with the grimdark,
I can buy that logic. I hadn’t noticed her cutie mark before, so at first I was thinking retail instead of politics.
Oh shit, didn’t notice that! The dumb ray must have caused her to blow her cover!
ILLUMINARTI CONFIRMED
She has a Scroll on her butt, which in Ponyland means she’s a politician. She’s part of a group shot, with the other two being obvious references. So it stands to reason that the Politico Pony would be a reference as well.
Is that what the blue pony is supposed to be? Out of context, that line didn’t come off as specifically identifiable as the other two.
Yep. And that’s not even the whole plot- it’s only the last quarter to third of the movie. The rest of it was packed with stuff that made no sense, went nowhere, and/or was confusing to someone not up on DC lore (like me). Add to that that they burned through what could have been probably 3-5 movies worth of material in a single film, and the whole thing was a train wreck. Supposedly the Ultimate Edition solves some of the theatrical version’s problems, but I haven’t been able to motivate myself to sit through three hours of a questionable film to find out for myself.
