I have decided that while she did make it to her appointment with Applejack, it is a good thing she was tired because it was an appointment for pony-pile napping to while (sp?) away the winter with a smaller heating bill for the farm.

Not to mention that ANY clothing would help; You lose some heat through any given part of your body (assuming the skin’s warmer than the air and/or has any moisture on it at all)
So even just, say, a spike-sized saddle, would at least help reduce the temperature lost.
I’d still recommend a cloak or something.

This isn’t armor, dude. It’s meant to keep her warm. And for that, it would do a good job. It covers the areas where her blood vessels would be closest to the surface, keeping the blood warm while it circulates through her body and preventing frostbite.
