The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@BigMax
Well, does he go to school? No? And yet all the other child characters are seen going to school.

He gets paid in Just For Sidekicks, and I’m not talking about the gems he gets for pet sitting. He was using the gems he’d been saving in his jewel cake, plus in SoME he acquired an extremely rare gem without either Twilight or Rarity knowing about it.

Yes, he turned into a full grown dragon in SoME, but he decided that generosity beats out greed. The reason this happened is because he hit puberty. Since we know there are stages of dragon development between what Spike is now and full grown dragon, and that no other dragon is likely to chose generosity, the fact that Spike should be a teenager just makes sense.

The mane 6 act like they’re no more than 16 at best. Equestria in generally seems to have lower levels of maturity across the board. And I already explained why he looks like a kid.

For further thought we know that Twilight started her magic schooling by hatching Spike, and we also know she went to magic kindergarten. Meaning she was probably the human equivalent of six when she hatched him.

Of he is voiced by a woman? How entirely irrelevant.

He may be older, but already out of school? No. So your reasoning just doesn’t stand.

And he gets paid? How? When?

And I think you’re quite wrong about SoME. Spike becomes a full adult dragon there. Of course he isn’t, so let’s just don’t argue about magical creatures anymore.

I just think about how he behaves, and he looks no more than a 10 years old kid to me.

(Also, don’t forget he’s voiced-over by a woman…)

@BigMax
Secret of My Excess. The entire plot happened because of Spike’s growth, and given that Zecora never mentioned reversing it, I see no reason to assume anything other than it was supposed to be permanent, except Spike decided not to. Spike’s first growth looked a lot like the teen dragons we saw later, except of course they didn’t decide to value generosity over greed and they couldn’t collect as much stuff as they were around other, equally greedy, dragons.

The simple answer is that Spike doesn’t hang out with kids/go to school is because he’s older than they are. Even in the first episode, in a school we know also has younger children, he’s going to a party for someone in Twilight’s class.

And the same applies to Spike. He’s employed, he gets paid, he occasionally takes business trips out of town. Certainly, he’s younger than the mane 6, but he’s nowhere near as young as the CMC.”

@candrew
Sorry, but that doesn’t make sense to me. Expecially the growth part, Spike’s not Peter Pan or something.

I don’t know why Spike doesn’t go to school or see other kids, but certainly he doesn’t look like a teen dragon.

And the main 6 can be young but still adults. Two of them hold commercial activities, other two have a regular job, one is some kind of university/PhD student and keeps the public library, and the last one is at least one year older than another one.
They may behave childish sometimes, but they’re adults nonetheless.

This would make more sense if the show had ever like the CMC instead of giving him a job, not having him got o school, and not having him ever hang out with child characters. And the mane 6 also act like children, unless pin the tail on the pony and I spy are new adult party games they play while having slumber parties with makeovers.

Also, Spike is a teen dragon, he just refused to grow up.

@Sjogre
I don’t see why, the show is Canadian.
And anyway, there are no cars in Equestria, so why should there be driving laws?

Spike and the CMC are characters that should fit more the main target, i.e. little kids.

I guess Spike is no more than 10 (compared to human years, of course). He’s called a “baby dragon”. We know he still has to have a strong growth spurt. Heck, he mainly acts like a child!

And we’ve already seen how “teen” dragons look like.

Spike’s poor spelling there is radically inconsistent with his portrayal everywhere else in the series. Heck, that doesn’t even make sense with regards to his position as Twilight’s scribe.

Spike’s apparently old enough to drive. Fifteen or sixteen at the youngest, assuming Equestria mirrors the United States’ driving laws.

I don’t like humanzied Spike being this young. He’s much more mature and slightly older then the CMCs. I picture him as being between 13 and 16 while the CMCs being between 8 and 12.
