i’m going with this:
not only does she have a family, but she has a sibling
but it’s a brother
she’s upset because she sees the others with sisters and thinks that the grass is greener, so she ignores her brother much to his dismay.

Lauren Faust never intended for her to have parents. But they won’t exactly show her as an orphan, since that’d be too dark, so they just kind of keep it as it is now.
