I’m a bit late to the party, so I gotta ask; What’s with the blue eyes? Did something happen to the EG movie or toys or what?

I suppose Octavia’s was better though.

Flaws in a character is definitely a good thing, but the way pretty much every fan animation has written her…  
Vinyl Scratch is pretty much my most favorite of things ever, but in one recent animation, “Octavia & Vinyl - Sunrise Surprise” I was so put off and uncomfortable with it that I had to pause the video after about 40 seconds and take a breather… I skipped ahead later and it only made me more unhappy with it.
 
I mean, maybe if a different voice actress had done it… Nowaking’s voice for her has just been grating on me since Epic Wub Time to the point where I don’t feel comfortable referring to my favorite cute, happy dj pone as just “Vinyl”.
 
I just feel like the fanon needs to try some new things.

I don’t think she’s a jerk, I think she’s just portrayed as a bit tactless, party-crazy, (maybe not to the extent of Pinkie Pie) and naive like with her comical interactions with her fanon friend Octavia in stuff like the “Epic Wub Time” fan-animated short. That one also portrayed her as kinda well-meaning at times, as well. So she’s not always portrayed as a “jerk.”
 
Plus, if you’re going to give a background pony a personality, it doesn’t hurt to have some flaws like that.

I feel like if she wasn’t given red eyes by the fans in the first place, she wouldn’t be characterized as such a jerk all the time…

actually this is an edit. EQs vinyl has Magenta eyes

I kinda prefer her eyes being a different color personally, makes ’em stand out more.

She should’ve had blue eyes in the first place. Goes so much better with her mane.

Personally, I still don’t mind what color Vinyl’s eyes are, red, blue, magenta, I’m fine with any eye color she is drawn with.

Back on Ponibooru (before A Canterlot Wedding, thus before I was going around saying “wrong eye colour” on any Vinyl fanart with red eyes), I said that I preferred blue eyes to red eyes…and guess what, I still do.

Well i dind’t watch EG aside of the trailers and whatnot so i had no idea what color they were in EG.
 
Still the comics seem to use red rather than the canon color.

Her actual color is a super light yellow actually. :3
 
EG Vinyl has Magenta, since it’s canon. However I edited them to be blue.

So basically we have a giant contradiction.
 
Fanon and IDW Vinyl has red eyes.  
Pony Vinyl has Magenta eyes.  
EG Vinyl has blue eyes.
 
Oh and if you look closely VS is yellow… a very light yellow.
