Allow me to explain: I was on the steps to a thousand year old Buddha statue on the island in Louisiana where they make Tabasco Sauce. I had taken my glasses off to wipe the sweat off my forehead when a particularly big horsefly landed on my neck and bit hard. Ordinarily I would have been more careful, but a nearby alligator distracted me and I reflexively backhanded it with the same hand holding my glasses. The glasses slipped out of my grip and got a big crack in one of the lenses.

There’s nothing funny about horseflies. I once broke my glasses while swatting at the little fuckers.
