Japanese names:
Jakappel - ジャックリンゴ (Jakkuringo Apple is translated to ‘ringo’ in Japanese)
Jakoltaire - しゅうじゃっく (Shūjakku, pun off of Shūkakku [harvest] and Jakku [i.e. Jack])
Three-stage families are not only more interesting and fun, but they’re also what people expect to see!
True enough! It’s a bit why I’m personally disappointed to see my fav get the short end here, not to dogpile on ya or anything. ;x She just gets short changed constantly elsewhere so I might be a bit overly sensitive about it. Still, I’ve been enjoying this series of yours regardless!
@BrownieComicWriter
Well, I just made an observation based on what you have shown to date. It’s kinda hard for me to know your plans for pictures, you know :I
But it’s nice to know you plan to continue the series past Mane 6. Can’t wait to see how you will redesing them :)
@shinigamiPeter
Fluttershy also has two. If you’d waited before passing judgment, you would have seen that. It’s the same for my planned Ponymon interpretations of Derpy, Lyra, Bon Bon, and possibly Soarin and Spitfire.
I didn’t have as many ideas for Applejack and Fluttershy, and since there are so many two-stage families in actual Pokemon, I decided it would only make sense to put some in there. But! Three-stage families are not only more interesting and fun, but they’re also what people expect to see! Hence why somebody asked in the first place!
@Background Pony #D1E6
Because it’s actually most common for Pokemon to only have two evolutionary stages.
And yet most of your Ponymons have 3 or 4 stages (counting diverging evolutionary lines), with only AJ left on 2 :P
I kinda wish Applejack had a evolutionary line based on Orangejack/Applejewel. You know, one line stays as the Farmer Ponymon if evolved in natural environment, and the other goes Urbanite Ponymon if evolved in urban environment.

Kinda does make sense here, though, to have that particular evolution be dependent on some future discovery, since tatzlpones aren’t exactly “the norm” around Equestria proper.
Ooo, I like these designs, the muddy hooves, the freckly bodies, the symmetrical hair on Jakoltare (is this in reference to AJ’s toys?); but I wonder why no interim evolution?
@PonyPon
Possibly. But whenever they do it in the actual Pokemon games, they have to come up with some new thing that does it. For instance, when they introduced Scizor in gen 2, they came up with the idea of evolving Scyther into it by trading it (Scyther, that is,) while holding the Metal Coat, a brand-new item. If they’d used an item that already existed in Gen 1, it wouldn’t have made sense in-universe for that item to have not made Scyther evolve previously in the Gen 1 games. I know I’m putting way too much thought into this, but whatevs.

Here’s your useless translation, have a good one!

All of these are very nice OP.

Like a trade evo?
GAH! THAT’S AN AMAZING IDEA!
Oh well, it’s a bit too late now. Then again, maybe I can add another evolution later and say it was discovered in the next generation.
