The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I didn’t think it really needed being addressed because it was flaming obvious. She’s never had to live in a world where her magic can’t fix a problem (which IS consistent with how I’ve always interpreted her) and she’ll likely get better as she gets more acclimatized.

Also, it lent a bit more sympathy to Twilight when she started poking her nose in Starlight’s business. If this is how Starlight treats others then maybe Twi is right to micromanage her life. That kinda thing.

I dunno, it really didn’t bother me.

Nobody would care about Trixie in a world like this. They would go to see ponies who can do real magic, and Trixie would have no chance to compete with them. Weird considering how she was depicted to be talented at using actual magic in her first appearance. When you have Trixie and two ultra powerful unicorns that can do nearly anything with magic in the same episode, it’s even more obvious, and sad.

It’s like saying that no one watches wrestling because UFC exists and wrestling is fake. It may well be, but for many the spectacle and talent involved in it are enough for some people.

Because they have nothing better to do.

I don’t understand why else people would be hating on this episode. It’s a touchy subject to have a have a character that’s simply incapable, I think they went too far with how they did Trixie. While the show depicts her doing..ok, when I think about it, it really doesn’t seem like she could succeed in Equestria. She would be completely overshadowed, her job wouldn’t last, she would be mocked, being surrounded by ponies that can do cool magic would seriously affect her self esteem. I don’t think the writers realize how shitty of a life they gave her.

Stage magic works in our world because magic isn’t real. If it was, nobody would care about magic tricks, they would go to see someone doing actual magic.

Both Starlight and Twilight, prodigies in magic, were impressed with Trixie’s stage magic. It’s clear they don’t treat magic as just that. MAgic is used for utility while the magic trixie does is done for showmanship. Ponies seem to be able to divorce the two in their minds. We can’t, however, since magic doesn’t exist in our world.

And people dislike the episode because of a combination of thinking Twi is being a bitch or hatred concerning Starlight. Which will likely haunt her til the end of time.

I read this shit?
This ep would have been better if they’d just expanded on the first 10 minutes and at the end of it she’d made friends with Cranky or something.

Couple things…

I’m fairly certain Twilight could do the Moonshot Dive. Trixie may be better at stage magic than Twilight, but that “trick” does not involve any tricks, just one precise teleportation. Which Twilight is really good at, unlike Trixie. Twilight just does not want to get eaten alive (she’d probably imagine the manticore being a huge quesadilla).

Another thing. I know the comics aren’t always considered canon, but Trixie did go to the gifted unicorns school. Therefore she should be fairly powerful at magic. Maybe she dropped out because the school was too boring for her. She didn’t care about the long lessons about how to boost and tune your magic. She wanted instant gratification and found it from stage performances, who knows. But even getting accepted into that school means you have to be naturally good at magic. There has to be more to her than just illusions and stage magic. I’m 100% certain she could teleport just fine if she just studied it a little.

Any thoughts?

Actually that apparently was never supposed to be Trixie in that comic though the writer said you can just imagine she just dropped out.

Both Twilight and Starlight have insanely dumb levels of power that make everyone look useless, especially Trixie. I stand by my view, nobody would really care that much to see a non-magical pony’s show in a magical world.

I doubt they were impressed either, they probably said that to make Trixie happy.

Now you’re stubbornly hanging onto a theory that is blatantly not true based on everything in the episode. They were genuinely impressed, and she had crowds coming to see her show.

Clearly ponies don’t treat magic with the same gravitas we do. And why should they, they use magic for manual labor.

I’m guessing Twilight said that to give Trixie a feel good moment, now that she can do something that Twilight can’t. Though we have seen Twilight failing to teleport in high pressured situations (failing the first attempt in Dragon Quest.)

For the record: I thought TMMDW was a good episode, MMC - okay episode (a little rushed), etc, etc.
