that still feels like a very manufactured scenario to make rockhoof wrong. jumping to because you see flames in the window of a school is entirely justified, while playing with fire in school is a stupid move. yeah it’s worked so far, but that’s like saying “i don’t need a smoke detector because i haven’t used it so far”.

We never actually see the room on fire. We just see plumes of flame emerging from the windows. So we don’t know if the room is fire proofed or not.

I feel like people gloss over one of Rockhoof’s lines following the whole fire debacle. One of his reasons for feeling so displaced was because he’s not used to living in a world alongside creatures such as dragons. He’s not used to being their allies, and the things that come with them. Such as recreational use of dragon fire.
 
If anyone, blame Twilight for not explaining it to him. Not Smolder and Spike for doing something that clearly isn’t hurting or disturbing anyone else who knows them.

The Season 1 finale was the weakest in my opinion, the DBZ MLP finale was my favorite.

We did get to see him coach the athletes for the Equestria Games, so meh…?

I want to see Flash Sentry’s pony car,mustang with horsepower, again. It’s been 5 years.

I think it’s the opposite, though. the other season finales, barring “The Return of Harmony”, seem overwrought compared to “The Best Night Ever”.

Best Night Ever was a great finale and I wish we got more of that as a change of pace. Not that I had a problem with the others minus the Season 7 finale.

what i want to see happen, is twilight and her friends are going to leave town but don’t because they hear some evil monster with a bad attitude is on his way to ponyville looking for trouble. so the mane six spend the entire episode getting ready for it and setting up this big convoluted plan. just as they get ready to do it shiny shows up with a row of unicorn guards, yells fire, and they just obliterate the fucker with 10 simultaneous horn blasts and no effort on their part. twilight and them just stand there gaping while shiny goes “good job guys, let’s break for lunch!”, sees twilight, and goes “twily? i thought you were out of town”.
 
just… make fun of how limp the guards and shiny have been by implying they’re actually really good at a lot at their jobs for the most part and actually save the day tons of times off-screen.

honestly i blame twilight for allowing that dangerous of an act inside the school. take it outside so it’s away from the flammable building and clearly a fire-breath contest or whatever rather than appearing to be the school burning down. it’s careless stuff like that which makes neighsay right about her and her school.

The only finale that can top The Best Night Ever for me is Best Gift Ever and that’s only if you count it as a finale. (I mean come on, it air two weeks after School Raze so it’s pretty darn close to being in the actual season)

No what they should do is have the guards being weak and helpless as the motivation for an upcoming villain, that they want to strengthen Equestria, that said villain lost a lot during all the attacks and threats and what have you over the course of the series and is now training others to be a much more effective but also potentially brutal force to help protect Equestria.

It’s funny, with both EOTD and Daniel’s comments. Rockhoof contains a lot of VERY interesting and I think poignient ways to showcase how alone Rockhoof feels. But those moments have just iffy enough execution to put off a few people.
 
Cuz you have the stars moving over time, erasing one of Rockhoof’s most elegant skills and taking yet one more familiar thing from him.
 
You have Rockhoof mistaking a normal activity for something dangerous on account of not being used to Equestria’s changing political allies and the introduction of different races and cultures.
 
And you have Rockhoof wanting to immortalize his legacy via soft suicide rather than existing as a failure and tarnishing it.

I’m not a Trixie or Derpy Hooves fan.

It doesn’t count as a finale, it’s a standalone special that happens to be caught in the middle of seasons but doesn’t fall in either. The episode itself starts like it’s its own thing instead of anything from Season 8.

I don’t get most of the Brony fandom memes, except maybe the Twilicane scepter and that Party Favor didn’t listen.

i think it’s fair that they’re outclassed when fighting the likes of tirek or discord. i’d just like the implication that when dealing with lesser threats they’re good enough at it that it’s just routine at this point.

yeah, that’s what I wanna see too. for far too long, I’ve seen the guard being painted as these incompetent ne’er-do-wells, being terrible at their jobs and either getting their asses handed to them or just running off like little pussies. same goes for Princess Sun Butt. I just want to see them to redeem themselves for once. being good in their occupations. oh, and no retconning that shit–I don’t want them to go back to being weaksauce!

absolutely. we need one episode where sunbutt throws off the horseshoes and beats down a villain to save twilight herself. i know they’ve implied that celestia holds back out of fear of being too powerful, but that comes off as such an asspull when we’ve never seen anything in the show that actually shows she has enough power to have such a concern in the first place. she got beaten by slow-moving vines and some snot on her horn for christs sake; she’s not been portrayed as being even remotely powerful even once in the series. that needs to change.

There was too effing much Twilight in season 8.
