Only games who’s graphics didnt aged well should deserve a remaster.
 
Half Life: Source could have been a good remaster if Valve decided to upgrade more than just the models and not ruining the AI and hitboxes.

They did release the ‘enhanced’ version and the remake had a trailer drop a month or so ago.

At least Dark Souls remaster got the game onto the PS4 and added a bonfire (as well as tweak some of the mechanics). Skyrim Remaster didn’t even do that, I believe.

Not sure how I feel about remasters. 8/10 times you’re buying the same thing you already own - though there has been a few generous examples where owners of the original gets to ‘upgrade’ for free.
 
Secondly they almost never have new content or particularly run better. You just end up paying $60~ for some prettier graphics.
 
Finally most of the time games that don’t need remastering are the ones being sold again. Bioshock, Skyrim, etc they all still look good and are rarely more than a few years old. When are we getting a System Shock 2 remaster?

Ehhhhh, by a remaster, it means they added some props and more texture detail, but I heard the shadows are not the same.

I might get Windows Mixed Reality since that seems to be one of the cheaper options.

True. I like the Friend Abilities though. And I love all the extra updates the game had.

I bought the originals on GOG and got the remasters for free a few months ago.

Probably slightly better textures lighting etc. I got it and 2 free since I owned the originals.

I don’t imagine there’s a lot a whole lot of difference. Most of the time, a remaster is just a graphical overhaul of the original game. Very rarely is anything new added or any changes made to the gameplay.

I have it, though I have no idea how it’s different from the original.

I’m thinking of playing BioShock Remastered.

I’ll give you the Friend Train (doesn’t help that it only even appears in one level in the main campaign, though it appears more in Guest Star Allies) and the lives. But I disagree on the friend mechanic being weaker than the “Super Abilities” (that was always just “destroy shit until you find a warp hole, run from a void wall, fight Sphere Doomers for 2 Energy Spheres) or Hypernova (which was almost always just “press B at the right moment”). …I do prefer Robobot Armor though.
 
Really, in general it does feel like that the formula started by Return to Dream Land is starting to get a little stale.

I could’ve played a new game. Gone through my backlog. Bought a new game.
 
Instead, another Ace Combat 7 campaign. Inform the coalition units, we’re nearing zero hour!

The thing is: the levels of Star Allies totally lack of the creativity of pretty much all of the previous entries. I mean, think about the Great Cave Offensive from Super Star Ultra, or the Circus levels of Triple Deluxe or the casino levels of Planet Robobot for instance. This game doesn’t have anything like that (the closest one to that is Planet Towara, incidentally my favorite level in the game). The mechanics with the group are not funny as the Super Abilities, the Hypernova or the Robobot Armors, very often those mechanics are reduced to just “jump at the right moment” (the train one is the worst offender as that’s a moment in which the game REALLY play itself: you just have to jump ONCE at the very end of it. The collectibles are also insultingly placed here. Not only there are way less than in previous entries, but also they’re placed IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STAGE and not in secret doors with puzzles that require a specific move of a specific ability to get them (there are really few things like that in this game, mostly the switches that unlock secret levels). Also, due to the friends mechanic, bosses are even easier than before. You start a fight and then it’s over in less of 30 seconds. Also as you pointed, not only the game gives you HUNDREDS of extra lifes, but also unlike in the previous games in which the counter is always resetted when you restart reset the game, in this one the counter is saved for its enterity even when you reset.
 
There’s no point in focusing in this game: you almost can’t die, the collectibles are mostly thrown right in your face and the bosses are always over in seconds. The only cool things of this game are the final boss, the hardest modes of the Boss Rush, and the extra mode, which actually requires A LOT of focus to get all the hearts and the best ending. The main campaign is just poor from every point of view, and lacks of the soul that previous Kirby games always add.

I swear I don’t know where you get this “auto-pilot” impression, because it’s really not true. That said, Star Allies is definitely way too generous with extra lives, and the fact that it’s one of the only games in the series to save your life count means that it’s virtually impossible to get a game over.

So is anyone getting VR for Half Life Alyx, and if you do have VR already are you getting it?

To be fair, Final Boss and extra mode aside, Star Allies is WAY easier. At least Squeak Squad is not an “auto-piloted” game, and requires a bit of focus.

My only real issue with Squeak Squad is that even by franchise standards it’s VERY easy, though it’s still fun.

I always liked that game, the treasure hunting was nice, (and how alot of the treasure was actually useful, like recoloring Kirby) and I liked the new mouse enemies. And it brought back the || Rebuilt sunken in the ocean Halberd, || giving some continuity to the series, something not in many Nintendo platformers.
 
Also, cake is a perfectly good reason to go on an adventure! Also, the story does evolve into saving the world from a bigger threat.

I don’t remember why I used to dispone Kirby Squeak Squad (Mouse Attack in PAL Region). The only stupid thing of that game is the story (Kirby tries to get back his Strawberry cake….), for the rest is perfectly in line with the other Kirby games. I think I was a bit unfair of it.
