haha what? “did you realize we still made cars?” of course??

I’m sure “sportiness” will be mostly implemented with a stiff suspension and a turbo 4 engine

On top of wasting the name, what’s even the point of the Eclipse Cross? Mitsubishi already has the Outlander Sport for small and the Outlander for mid-size, so what’s the point of putting something between them? Are there really enough people who want that specific size crossover to justify manufacturing a separate vehicle?

Fun fact: Tatra is actually the world’s second most oldest car brands in the world after Peugeot.
They had their origins in making horse wagons.

Henry Porsche, huh? I forget, was that the guy who designed the VW Model T, or the Ford Beetle?

Jokes aside, cheap thing for Porsche to do, and I’m glad VW eventually paid them. Now, for a really great Tatra that I wish someone would copy, check out the 603:

I love the space-age styling, and the drivetrain is kind of nuts; These things are powered by a 2.5 liter, rear mounted, air-cooled V-8. And they raced them, too:

Can’t decide if I like the three or four lamp version better, though.

Ah yes, I didn’t mention which year it is. It’s a 1999 Chevy K2500 LS in Silver and I bought it used on Craigslist. I feel like part of it was the past owner passing off a poorly maintained vehicle on me in some ways (the transmission being the worst of it) and many of those problems have been remedied. Some remain, however:

1: Rusted Quarter Panel above Tailpipe (I have the part to replace it with.)
2: Rusted Rear Wheel Arches (Weren’t seen at first, they’re underneath plastic arch extensions.)
3: Fuel and Oil Pressure Gauges don’t work right (they move, they’re just far off.)
4: A/C Hasn’t ever been charged since I owned it, no idea if it’ll even work.
5: Rear Passenger Side Power Window doesn’t work whatsoever.

All in all this has been the most vastly problematic automobile I’ve ever owned, then again I liked to repair nearly everything at the same time and most problems were from lack of maintenance or neglect such as the windshield fluid reservoir being cracked. Nobody cracks that unless they put or leave water in it in winter. The frame is in wonderful shape, there’s no large rust that can’t be handled on the body and I sprayed most of the vehicle with Fluid Film before winter including in all of the doors and in all the rocker panels where there are plugs that come out, I’m guessing for cleaning?

I do suppose using quality oil and filters would help immensely with a cylinder shutoff feature, it’s what I’m planning to use on this Suburban. Have you ever looked into a Bypass Filter System? They’re amazing, most filters let a lot of contaminants go by and flow in the engine. That’s partially because engines would otherwise starve of oil with a traditional “Full Flow” filter. A “Bypass Filtration” System filters some of the oil on a partial-flow basis but leaves most oil flow through the rest of the engine unimpeded thus you get much cleaner oil and longer drain intervals and significantly less wear. I own a bypass filtration system by Amsoil, I’ve only never installed it due to lack of a bracket to get the filter placement past the torsion bar. This may have turned out to be a blessing in disguise though because the stock Oil Cooler Lines are quite possibly leaking. I simply must replace them either way, it would be good to repair the gauges too; then should a line on this Bypass Filter System burst I’ll quickly see I have no oil pressure and turn off the engine. My parents may have lost an F150 due to the same problem, I was riding along and then suddenly we had no oil so that may have been the culprit.

Come to think of it yeah, I’m not tired of the sound of this engine. It does however get a little quieter (gently so) if I’m running some Diesel Kleen in the fuel tank which I’ve been doing probably over 3,000 miles now. (I was getting codes on the dash, maybe due to poor quality fuel at the time.)

@SeraphimDawn

I see what you’re talking about, they all have that kind of look.

ah you must have a 1992-1999. I know what you meant, the Suburbans always get awful mpgs. Newer ones are better mainly because the air dams they have are so huge. also, the cylinder shutoff at highway speeds comes in handy a whole lot. Not sure about the reliability, but using good oil goes a long way (from what I’ve seen on youtube)

your truck sounds amazing from what you write. I bet that Detroit diesel sound never gets old :)

Well where do we go now? The HHR could be considered a Station Wagon or a Crossover, I suppose.

@RainbowDash69

I meant Miles Per Gallon, I suppose I was vague. Mine gets somewhere around 20 MPG between fillups, that’s with a few changes though:

1: Shell T6 5w40 Oil (thinner than Shell T6 15w40 at startup, big difference in wear reduction and MPG increase)
2: Amsoil 75w90 Severe Gear Oil for Differentials
3: Cheap yet effective Air Dam - Aerodynamic Aid.
4: 80 PSI in Tires - They’re rated for working that high.
5: Cold Air Intake - I cut a hole in the side of the air box and put a hose in it for better air circulation. It should help keep the turbo in better shape too, considering it was previously recommended to let the vehicle idle for a few minutes before shutting it off.
6: Roof Rack removed. Also put bolts in it and silicone on them to make sure it won’t leak. Looks odd although I’ve never needed the roof rack for anything these past two years.

I’ve considered a few more aerodynamic aids. The truck might get 28 MPG HWY once all are installed even though it’ll look unusual.

The 2000-2006 generation looks rounder than mine, I got what’s nearly a bricklike front end. I’m supposing the Duramax is a less problematic engine than the 6.5 in mine is reputed to be? It’s not an engine I’ve looked into a whole lot, really.
