She’s a good pop artist, she has massive pipes to her voice and is pretty much this generation’s Mariah Carey. Her cover of Emotions by Carey is a perfect example of her singing talent cause let me tell you, the girl can hit a high note.

Congratulations to Ariana Grande for her 9th number one song with “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” Her others ones being Thank U Next, 7 Rings, Stuck With U w/ Justin Bieber, Rain On Me w/ Lady Gaga, Positions, Save Your Tears (Remix) w/ The Weeknd, Die For You (Remix) w/ The Weeknd and Yes, And?. Way better song than her last number one song and the new album was surprisingly not bad in my opinion.

I think the song is mid, a pretty underwhelming return for her. Not a bad song, but the singles River and Jaded from that album are much better

People criticize Miley Cyrus’s Flowers a lot but honestly, I actually really like the song, sonically at least

The lyrics are pretty generic admittedly

He only had one song crack the US Billboard Hot 100, which was Still Got The Blues (For You) which charted at number 97 in 1990. He did have other songs make the mainstream rock charts but other than that, he is virtually unknown in the US, which I guess shows that there is still a divide between UK artists making it to the US and US artists making it to the UK.

That’s the idea! Despite the group’s often symphonic style, they were at heart all veteran lovers of good old-fashioned juke joint Rock & roll

Also, great to see another Gary Moore appreciator!

Gary Moore is criminally underrated, he was without a doubt one of the best guitarists of all time (and a bloody good vocalist too). I’m guessing none of his stuff was popular in the states? I’ve never heard his music or reference to him in American media.

My personal favourite is Parisienne Walkways, his most sucessful (still a favourite of mine) was probably Still Got The Blues and those of us who are Nightwish fans, we have him to thank for Over The Hills And Far Away (Gary Moore).

Such a talented bloke, who like so many other great talents battled the bottle throughout life.

Man, I know it’s cliche, but musically I was born in the wrong era, it sucks decent rock rarely makes the charts anymore.

It’s a good thing rock music just kept pressing forward and evolving regardless.
Speaking of the Beatles, when they were rejected by Decca Records, a rep of the label infamously stated that “guitar music is on its way out”.
That has to be one of the most inaccurate statements in history!

The reason why music was like that before The Beatles broke through was because of rock n roll, the backlash to it and the rise of teen idols

There were a few scattered diamonds in the rough before the Beatles broke out, but there’s a marked improvement in overall quality after they enter the scene, and you can see their influence and changing trends in real time.

I love Loreena McKennitt, her music is really great and ever since I dove into her singles after hearing The Mummer’s Dance, I became a fan since then.

Off to kip, a bit of Loreena Mckennitt always helps me wind down, currently Dante’s prayer (Long intro, give it a chance).
