It’s not that it’s unpopular. It really is just a lack of tagging because not as many people are aware of it. Or because like you said, it’s semi-difficult to tell when it or pony (which is also semi-undertagged) applies.

Nah, just with the separate tags like they’re used now, like “anthro” + “(other species)”.
 
I just see a lot of anthro ponies with the “anthro” tag alone. But if Zeb already answered this I must have misunderstood.

No I get not using human-related tags since that’s pretty much implied by anthro. But I’m asking about including the anthropomorphized species in the tags, like how we use “pony” AND earth pony/unicorn/pegasus/etc.
To clarify what it’s an anthro OF
 
Oh, you mean like “anthro unicorn” or “anthro unicorn pony” ? Never seen one like that, and I think it would just make life more complex.
 
Zeb above did say you’ll add anthro and unicorn or “earth pony” when it’s a pony (or a zebra, for that matter) of that species as an anthro.

So for search clarity, should non-human species tags be added with Anthro?
 
Human and humanized should be fairly clear: if it doesn’t have any animal features but is originally an animal, then it’s humanized. Humans since start are humans.
 
However, bipedal animals blur the line between animal and anthro.

I know it doesn’t quite make sense what with the tag having “pony” in the name. But they’re used to differentiate the different types of anthro-pony race.
An anthro with wings: Pegasus.
Anthro with horn: Unicorn.
Anthro with neither: Earth Pony.
It can make sense if you consider that they’re specifically anthro-ponies. Like you can have mouse-anthro, hawk-anthro etc. We just don’t distinguish them being pony-anthros on this site.

Keywords like “earth pony” and “bat pony” (many others exist), are they meant to be used on actual ponies and not anthros ? My understanding through seeing how they’ve been used has been anthros don’t count, so when I’ve seen an anthro being keyworded like that I’ve removed the “<species> pony” keyword.
