Lionsgate is just the distributor; they have little to no impact on the content of the film itself. What ultimately matters here not how much Lionsgate cares for the movie, but rather how much DHX/Hasbro cares for the movie. Judging by the comments the production crew have left in the wake of teaser trailer release, they certainly seem passionate about their work. As for the teaser and poster themselves, while they’re far from perfect, both still have some redeemable qualites, and let’s face it, those two could have been much, much worse. Moreover, these are meant to grab initial attention to the movie; we’ll probably receive something far more substantial further down the road.

I feel bad for saying this but those were far better teaser trailers than what we got here
At least the Emoji movie had an animation specifically made to show it off
Ghostbusters tried not to give too much away but at the same time was pretty well done
Then you have this attampt which is just a bunch of awkward badly rendered cut outs of animation from the movie with a purple background and a few badly synced voice clips from the show.
No special animation made for the teaser to show off the real quality
No sence of adventure or mystery
Nothing that really would get the audience interested.

It’s a teaser trailer. We still have an actual trailer or two that will come out with the full animation.

The art director said she wouldn’t have approved it in it’s current form; she seemed to imply that if the shadow problem was corrected, it would have been acceptable for a teaser by her standards. Also, that “guy” is only a single individual. I’ve gone through all the teaser related posts here on Deripibooru, read through all the comments on the Equestria Daily article, and even perused the cesspool that is the YouTube comment section; while none of the fans thought it was perfect, most still enjoyed it for what it was and/or accepted the fact that what we saw in the teaser isn’t reflective of the final film.

She said herself it was a disappointment and would never have approved it plus the guy that messaged her said it was a bad teaser
also go look at boards on other brony sites and you’ll see there are a majority that feel this was bad.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’d rather have a teaser that shows practically nothing at all, than a trailer that ends up making the movie look bad… like Ghostbusters, which had a teaser trailer that, as the immensely negative reception showed, was not well done… at all… and it didn’t help that Sony called anyone who reacted negatively “sexist”. If the production crew behind MLP: The Movie deserves credit for anything right now, it’s that they’re handling the reception to a teaser a hell of a lot better than the crew behind Feigbusters did.

Outside of the obvious rendering issue, I thought it was fine for a 30 second teaser; the smooth movement and detailed models looked great, if nothing else. Also, I’m not quite sure where you’re getting “majority of fandom” from. Most fans seemed okay with it, especially after we were given an explanation by the art director herself.

I’m perfectly bucking awre that it’s a teaser
I’m just pointing out that it was a very poorly done one.

I want this movie to be successful I really do

But that “teaser” they used as promotion left a bad taste in the majority of the fandoms mouth.

that was the worst attempt at a trailer of any form I’ve ever seen.
