I hardly think this season is going to be all about Spike just because he happened to be at the front in one of the frames of the trailer. I think it’s pretty clear that this season is all about Twilight and her friends, as well as the Legion of Doom.

that was a little harsh, both episodes were about teaching spike that he have to look at himself with better eyes and all that jazz. the second just happen while the friendship games were happening, blame the writers saving some effort.

Yeah, Spike tends to ruin potentially amazing episodes, such as Power Ponies and Equestria Games, by making it about himself. So I’m sure the finale will just be him dealing with some inner turmoil

I don’t think so, Spike may have had his moments like helping save the Crystal Empire again, winning the Sibling Supreme, DJ Scales and Tail and finally making friends with Garble, but that’s only 4 episodes.
 
Now, if this boy got a kiss on the mouth and/or meeting his dad Scorpan, then I’d believe you.
