Sorry for late response/necro, but Silver bullets/knives actually do work on vampires, and other monsters/demons. It wasn’t until recently they only became associated with warewolves thanks to movies, and the media.
 
James Rolfe as the Bullshit Man gives a good explanation on vampire’s many obscure weaksauce weaknesses that many forget about. Some are quite strange. Including a vampire’s OCD to count things. (Like the Count from Sesame Street… I am not kidding.)
