Insane Headcanon that I pulled out of my rear just now™!
- Twilight Sparkle’s mental breakdown in “Lesson Zero” was even worse than we saw on-screen, to the point that Celestia wasn’t able to snap her out of it, and sent her to an insane asylum. In other words, every episode after “Lesson Zero” (including the ending of that one) is actually just the manic fantasies of a straitjacket-clad Twilight.
God no, I’ve always hated that plot twist. Makes me feel like I’ve wasted my time on events that are of absolutely no consequence.
Honestly, I don’t like that headcanon either. I certainly don’t believe it. That’s why I said it was pulled out of my rear.
It also doesn’t explain the few episodes where Twilight doesn’t appear, like “Sisterhooves Social” and “Putting Your Hoof Down”. I wanted to add a bit saying those episodes did happen, but I’m lazy.

-Rarity’s parents are members of a cult, allegedly devoted to undermining harmony and bringing about the reign of their dark lord Tirek, but in reality its mostly just something to do on the weekends. The ritual animal sacrifices have a potluck dinner afterward, and every other month they hold a big pancake breakfast to raise money for the forces of darkness.

The Apple Family is so large, they have ties everywhere, even across Equestria.
A Faust priest, Eve, lives in Trottingham, taking care of the poor and the sick. She is also quite rich.
A noble, Royal Gala, lives in Canterlot and she is the one responsible with their apples being distributed in that city.
A Japanese pony, Fuji, is actually the leader samurai of the Apple Clan. Ironically, he doesn’t like apples that is made into other food stuff.

I like that. May I steal? …(although it does go against my own headcanon that ’Shy is rejected by her family for failing at Pegasus-ing)
I also like to think that Fluttershy is given some sort of grant or stipend by the government as perhaps the only pony in that part of Equestria qualified to care for wild animals.

How about both? They rejected Fluttershy for being a failure as a pegasus, but let her have a large amount of the cash from the lawsuit to save face for rejecting their family member. It’s a complicated issue that Fluttershy doesn’t like talking about.
Also, my assumption is that Fluttershy has really low property values because she lives next to a death forest.

Ooh, I like that. I like that a lot. In my mind, pegasi are a tiny bit more prone to racism than the other two races. Living in the clouds with nopony around except other pegasi can do that to you.

Ancient Pegasi were ruled by their military officials, and the warrior nature of their ancient society seems to have survived into modern times as a heavy reverence for sports and athletes. Just look at the two Pegasi Elements- Rainbow is heavily “Pegasi” culturally (lives in a cloud house, weather control job, aspires to the highest calling a pegasi can aspire to, the Wonderbolts) and she’s brash, loud, arrogant, very physical, intellectually limited (bordering on anti-intellectual in a few dialogues with Twilight) and her element is Loyalty-definitely the Element that would be most prized in a military setting. Fluttershy, on the other hand, was an outcast in Pegasi society as early as flight academy (which comes across as downright Spartan when you consider how little effort is put into safety) and she’s demure, introverted, physically weak, rather learned (she knows a great deal about many types of animal)- and her element is kindness.
I get the feeling Pegasi have a sort of unspoken cultural dissatisfaction with Equestria’s peaceful ways, that manifests a disproportionately large number of show boaters and a love of grand athletic performances of little relevance, most prominently the Wonderbolts.

Sombra was the last known Galm. Galms or more better known as Demon ponies were gargantuan (Sombra in-show was just as tall as Shining Armor if not taller. If he ever reached his full height he would be a full head taller than Celestia) bloodthristy carnivore warmongers that went extinct due to in-fighting and were the pony counterpart to Vikings and Barbarians.

- Equestria uses a calendar whose eras are divided by the Great Alicorn War (a.k.a. Luna’s downfall). All years after Nightmare Moon’s exile to the moon are officially notated as “AB” - “After Banishment”. Currently, the Equestrian year is something like 1002AB. Most ponies don’t use or know the letters, since there’s no reason for non-historians to do so.
- The Crystal Empire, being time-displaced from a period before Nightmare Moon happened, still uses an ancient calendar nopony else has used in a thousand years. Cadance opted not to make her subjects adopt the “new” dates, but she still has trouble wrapping her head around the CE’s archaic system.
