If Super Mario 3 and world ever got new remakes, I would not be surprised if the koopalings being Bowser’s children would get retconned to having them be Bowser’s elite group of minions or something else.

Even so, the games themselves never originally refered to them as Bowser Koopa’s children directly in-game, and even the games never specify they aren’t either, and considering Miyamoto’s stance that fans can interpret the series however they want, you can still interpret them as Bowser’s kids.
 
Though, with the existence of Bowser Jr., that makes it kinda difficult nowadays, as why would only one of his kids look like him, but not any of others?

Interestingly, Archie approached Nintendo for a comic book miniseries featuring mini Mario, Kirby, and Metroid stories, but unfortunately were turned down. Artwork from the pitch by Tracey Yardly can be found online.

One thing that would be neat for the Mario Movie to do is showing Mario and Luigi’s actual journey to the Mushroom kingdom for the first time.

Super Paper Mario is the Mario game with the best story ever. Them feels….

Not my favorite story, but still pretty good.  
It’s funny, in hindsight that game is the closest thing to a “Metroidvania” Mario game in existence. One of the few game genres Mario has never dabbled in. (He even has a FPS game with “Yoshi’s Safari,” but that game’s pretty obscure, and never got a rerelease.)

That’s kinda what the “Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach” anime did, only much like the 1993 SMB movie, it was like an alternative continuity/universe, that doesn’t really fit in with the games.

Super Paper Mario has the best story.  
Paper Mario TTYD has the best gameplay of all the Paper Mario Games.

Perhaps, but TTYD did have some rather tedious/annoying moments too.
 
SPM was interesting take on mixing the Paper Mario RPG-ish format, with classic Mario gameplay, but it’s only problem was it’s not very challenging, aside from a few moments, and puzzles.  
The story was pretty good, but at times it didn’t feel very Mario-ish. Though, given it’s bizarre settings/dimensions you visit, that kinda makes sense.

Chapter 4 was the worst instance IMO. If we ever got an HD remaster of the game, I hope they’d streamline those aspects.
 
Also, the original N64 Paper Mario needs more love.

Speaking of TTYD, a little tip: DON’T fight Grodus if you don’t have at least 80 Star Points in that moment. Because then you have to fight Bowser and Kammy right after Grodus and they don’t leave you time to heal yourself (when you level up, all your HP, FP and SP are completely restored, so be sure to be able to level up once you defeat Grodus in order to be prepared for Bowser. That battle is a pain in the ass).

I guess the master sword power up coming to Mario Maker is Nintendo’s way of making up for the fact that the mystery mushroom costumes were removed.

I kinda miss those, and the Amiibo support. It’s kinda a shame Amiibo’s don’t get as much support or love as they used to, but I guess after the drama over “Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival,” (which I didn’t understand, as it comes with two Amiibo, and several Amiibo cards too, so it’s not like they give you nothing with the game.) and Metroid: Samus Returns, (which apparenly required some now hard to find Amiibo to unlock things) Amiibo’s popularity/demand has gone down alot, and some fans gave them a bad rep’, comparing them to cashgrabs, or “loot boxes,” and such. (Even though, most Nintendo games don’t require Amiibo, and such.)
 
I think Nintendo’s almost afraid to do much with Amiibo nowadays in fear of looking greedy, so they nixed it with most games like the Mario Maker series.
 
They still seem to have a niché fanbase with some collectors though.

Today’s episode of Sunshine by the LPers stephen and mal featured the infamous “I’m a Chuckster!” secret level in pianta village.

It is frustrating because of just how easy it is to either overshoot the platform or not go far enough.

That and the Pachinko level seem to be the most infamous ones (at least going by how EVERYONE who does a Let’s Play of the game ends up losing their damn minds when doing those levels).

These ridiculously hard sub-stages are probably why “Mario Sunshine” is kinda the black sheep of the 3D Mario series…  
I still loved “Sunshine” regardless, and I actually liked alot of the platformer stages. Especially, the one reused for “Super Mario Galaxy 2’s” World-S.
