I know it’s not in FO 2, but I still remember my encounter with the Master in FO 1. I went and did the sidequest to allow me to talk him down, but failed at the end anyway. I had a near full Speech skill and reloaded a couple times to try, so as far as I could tell either the game glitched or even with high Speech you still have a low chance to pass the Master’s check.
That’s bull. At least FO 3 show’s you your percentage chance.

Depends. I found FO2 harder to get started in.
I have barely played FO1, but I heard the companions are less helpful. About RNG, they work the same.

Prepare to be confused a lot. Also, if you expect a open world game, this is not for you.

May try that one out after I get over the FO2 PTSD.

OK then, which of the Classic Fallout games is usually viewed as having the meanest overall RNG?
IN-TELLI-VISION!
I swear the ones who praise FO2 the most haven’t touched it since before the Broken Steel DLC.@Absol95
You mean 3, since Tactic counts as a Classic as well. May try that one out after I get over the FO2 PTSD.

Also, the classic ones allowing you to go above 100% in skills bothers me for some reason.

Also, if the guild I’m using is any indication, FO2 is very buggy. Why does FO2 get a pass when it’s as bad as FO3 in that department.

I mean, I still fully recommend the older Fallouts. But you have to go in knowing you’re getting into some “old-school” gameplay/storytelling, or else you’re gonna be disappointed and end up giving the games an unfair cop.
@Meanlucario
Tactics play pretty differently than the others. Especially if you play it Real Time. Enough so that I’d say even if you hated 1/2 there’s a chance you’d like Tactics or vice versa.
But the core gameplay is still the same so if that wasn’t your cup of tea, well…
@E-123
2 just has the asinine Temple of Trials that actively punishes if your initial build isn’t specced to melee combat. And even if it is, 2’s combat in general just punishes you for playing the game to begin with.
After that the rest of the game is definitely easier to get in to. Companions can be given vague commands to somewhat control them, several quality of life Perks in 1 are standard issue in 2 (like the one that gives companions a green ring and enemies a red ring. No more you killing your own companions just because they share the same character sprite as trash mobs and why was this an OPTIONAL Perk in 1 to begin with????)

So basically no matter who was developing the series, there have always been tons of bugs.

if i recall 2 was considered nearly incapable of being beaten at launch without some bug ruining the game,

I blame how everyone kept on hyping the shit out of it years ago, mostly my younger brother when I would say I like Fallout 3.
Might as well give it a try to say that I have, though I’m sure that I’ll have hardcore fans swear that I wasn’t playing it right if I don’t like it (though I may just be pessimistic).
Yeah, so far the classic game combat is very annoying. I love Fire Emblem, so turn-base warfare isn’t the issue for me, but something about 1 and 2’s combat just rubs me the wrong way.

“Go on lad, this one’s on me.”
Nowadays I wanna check to see if there are any interesting Epic-published indie games. Those are supposed to be the actual winners of the whole Epic Games Store brigade.

Lets say that none of the Fallout games are perfect. Each games have their pros and cons.

Also, I ended Hurbert’s misery in FO3 today. I’m excited to meet him in FO2, since I head that he’s the leader of Gecko, the town I got to before calling it a day.
@Jarkes
Yep. Remember, Obsidian did it first. I linked the guide a few days ago if you want to see them list said bugs in order of event.

When they can rival Beth in terms of bugs, than it’s not a pro vs con argument.

It’s the HUD. About 60% of all my problems with the game can be traced back to how unintuitive the UI is, and how tiny all the buttons are that you have to click.

One thing that I somewhat miss from FO2 are this enemies called Wanamingos.
I loved the design of this alien-looking bastards, but I also hated them because they ruined many of my playthroughts.

I meant Pros and Cons in terms about what they are made. FO1 and FO2 are good games with good narrative and RPG elements, while FO3 and FO4 are nice first person shooting games with better world building and detail.

Ah. So FO1 has aged better or…?
@Meanlucario
I will say that you have to admit FO3 didn’t really improve on the RNG since you can reload a save if you fail a skill check. NV did as you said, by forcing you to be a certain skill level.

I Rage could’ve been perfect if it wasnt because it is super lineal. Like, when you watch the surroundings and the horizon of the map, you can only think: “Damn, I wish I could walk over there”.
