Maybe they’re buried under the school somewhere, waiting for the right time and/or the right people (The Mane 6)?
Well from what I got from the ending, if Equestria Girls gets its own spin-off show or comic || Sunset Shimmer may become the Twilight of that group ( so long as Twilight’s counterpart does not move from the city and transfer into that school )||

They only get those ears, ponytail tails, and wings after || the Element of Magic grants them power after displaying true friendship with one another ( even putting themselves in harms way to protect one another ), and after Twilight leaves and the portal closes they lose there new pony parts.||
Considering how the movie ended, That is pretty believable.
Yeah, I wonder he did to Celestia to deserve getting banished AND turned into a statue.
