I reject this canon substitute my own.
Seriously though, it was pretty awesome.
I think it fits perfectly. When she’s singing about not having friends, she’s wingless, but when “Magic makes it all complete”, she gains wings.
Yeah. The OP started with classic footage as a throwback to the original show premise, and then did a sudden shift at the end to reflect most recent developments. It’s pretty clever in retrospect and keeps the OP from seeming hamfisted with the alicorn thing. And probably saves money from editing.
I mean maybe it’s sorta showing the beginning of the series up to current.
Trixie doesn’t live in Ponyville. She’s a traveling showmare, can’t stand to be tied down.
