Feature suggestions and discussion [READ THE FIRST POST]

How about blocking the possibility of writing as Background Pony after frequently and often misusing the option, (even after an ban)?

However, That doesn’t help against people who use proxies or tor.

I addded something for now. The things listed as Done isn’t everything by a long shot - I’m pretty sure I forgot a bunch lot of things, and that are just the user-visible changes.

Danke. I figured it’d be a way for people to see what’s effectively been done so they won’t have to ask the same thing over again.

Could there be a rule change to require that anything with the edit or [artist]:edit tags must include a link to the original image? It’s not really feasible to tagdive all 78,000+ images in the twilight sparkle tag to look for one in particular, for example, and reverse image searching doesn’t always work.

I dunno about “must”, seems a bit unfeasible, but it’s an idea worth encouraging.

A compromise for the typo when tagging idea; show the number of pics associated with the tag on the Tags box, even before the upload. So when you’re tagging and see artist:bakasan91(0) or artist:soyeeb(0) then you know something’s wrong. Maybe even make it red instead of green or something.

What about adding a Blogging section? So the site can actively host Ask-blogs? it could require a test panel so the mods could ensure only artists are using it, It would require the ability to block users or Anons though,

But in any case i maintain that this while being a departure from normal site policy could attract more artists, which i am fairly certain is a good thing,
 
Additionally, what about having an artists tag show up on their profile page if they choose to?

We entertained the idea at one point, but it’s too big of a thing for what the site currently is. It would basically be an entirely different thing, and we don’t have the manpower to either build or moderate it.
 
We do still want to improve user pages to be less “dry”, though.

If you’re feeling motivated, you could always create something akin to what the MSPA community did with the fan adventures mirroring site, but considering effort to response, it doesn’t seem worth it. Most people just keep using photobucket and such.
 
As many crappy things as there are about Tumblr, it still works better for an ask blog than, say, making a forum thread here and trying to run it like some sort of weird fan adventure ask blog hybrid thing.

What about a master source link in the details of an artist’s tag? that leads to their Tumblr/DA/other account? since sources in images can have issues, Namely having the source be the URL, this way no matter what you can find the artist’s main hub of activity,

That’s a thing I would like to do but it’s a lot of effort. I’ve still barely done half of the dictionary entries as is.

Understood, Also just another thought, maybe have a “Home” option on the drop down that also opens a new page at the artist’s main account, I under stand that these are all hard to do and aren’t likely to be done any time soon, but i just wanted to throw them out there.

Excellent idea; seconded, if it wouldn’t be too much coding effort. The various spoiler tags are really frustrating with this, since a lot of different misspellings have crept in and the way you find out that the spoiler tag you added wasn’t spelled correctly is when you get spoilery images in front of you.

Would it be difficult to include a “Link to your Deviantart/Tumblr/Facebook/FurAffinity/Etc. site” entry field on the Settings or Account pages that would show up on the Profile page? There’s already a field for an email address (that isn’t public).

Artists can help themselves with this already by including a source URL that leads to their Tumblr/DA/FA site; I’ve gone and followed a bunch of artists by going to source links from here.

The problem there is allot of artists don’t upload their own art, and the sources are some times a link to the pictures URL so no real help in getting there, This would just be meant as a absolutely fool proof way of finding the artist’s home page,

Hope this hasn’t been brought up before, or if this is the wrong place (I don’t spend alot of time on the forums), but I’ve been wondering about compound filtering/watching. Being able to filter or watch images with a certain combination of tags rather than singular tags.  
For instance, I don’t mind satyrs, but I do generally mind images tagged “satyr, offspring” for various reasons. So I’d filter only images with both the ‘satyr’ and ‘offspring’ tags present and not filter content I might be interested in seeing.  
Or let’s say I want to watch “queen chrysalis, bedroom eyes”, rather than getting all Chrysalis images or ‘bedroom eyes’ images in my watched list. Would just make things more manageable I think.

It’s the most requested feature (in both by how much it’s wanted and by how many) by both a large number of users and the staff itself. Unfortunately it seems like actually doing it is rather difficult.

What about a “Verified Artist/Artist Uploaded” Spoiler tag that signifys that an artwork has been uploaded by the artist him/herself.
