She’s still ok in her own eps, even if many writers badly flanderise her. And if nothing else she’ll always be part of the team of 6 ponies Equestria depends on
Is it ever possible to be so butthurt about a show that you get depressed? I found out that the answer is “yes” over the past couple days. It was onbrought by some angst in my family (I won’t say where it was coming from, but there was serious venom), and that got me depressed about it. I wanted to turn to MLP:FiM and other shows for escapism, but then I realised something.
The gradual realisation that Pinkie Pie is indeed the most useless character in the whole show (she does the least fighting, if at all, therefore decreasing her status as a hero in the episodes in which the whole cast is treated as heroes/she’s the only main character to have no story arc, she just bounces around and reacts to the world around her, meaning that she hasn’t successfully evolved with the show/they have to keep her on the show, gradually tugging at her personality until it runs dry and she eventually becomes the most stale and uninteresting character on the show as a result of their lack of hindsight with the evolution of the series concerning her/Starlight, a character introduced 2 seasons ago, effectively being more of a hero than her despite appearing in a 10th of the amount of episodes isn’t helping/most of her biggest fans eventually move onto another ponies as their favourite/characters have been acting more like Pinkie Pie as of late, therefore making her already decaying antics seem redundant in comparision) is not helping at all with my now-critical depression. That physically hurt to type out.
As Pinkie Pie is my favourite pony and the one I turn to for joy in the show the most often, these contributing factors to her being seemingly useless really hit hard, especially the fact that she doesn’t even fit into the show’s narrative anymore. It honestly makes me cry myself to sleep, because I don’t need a hero (please no Bonnie Tyler jokes) to be an idol, yet the show keeps on pushing “hero = idol” more and more while Pinkie Pie seems less and less like a hero. Therefore, I simply don’t see my favourite pony having a future in the show. If this show goes on for another 3 seasons the way it is, I have no idea if Pinkie Pie would even remotely be considered a main character anymore, especially as new characters pop in which assume a bigger role than her, just because they’re more heroic.

Well, let me just say, there is a wonderful undiscovered world of writing if you ever come to experience it. You are literally a god to your characters. It’s enlightening in great ways if you get deep enough, and I, myself, find it somewhat cathartic - at least creating stories in which these characters live.

And so what about what some losers say? To heck with what they think and their pre-judgements. It’s just Sturgeon’s law, and it applies to everything.
Sci Fi sometimes gets similar complaints directed at it, to which Sturgeon law was born as a response; “90% of everything is crap”. A good setting, lovable characters - these things are inspiring, and so they inspire people to write - which means a lot of people write, even people who otherwise wouldn’t, and don’t make very good stories either through lack of practice or lack of willingness to learn. There’s really no fundamental issue with fanfic, though. You can even make money from it.
And heck, pretty much 90% of fantasy settings ever since Tolkein are Lord of the Rings fanfictions, with dwarves, elves, “halflings,” orcs, etc. all playing the same roles they do in Tolkein’s universe. Same more or less applies to Sci Fi and Star Wars or Warhammer 40k.

I understand how you think.
Of course you should’t discount your connection with her.
I usually think ponies as ideals or ideas. You can keep a dream alive just by talking a out it.
I think what canon and what not are overrated and pretty much meaningless. But that is up to you to decide.

I really can’t write fan fiction, even if I try as hard as I can, because:
A) I’m stubborn and can’t see anything I write as being better than canon, no matter what others say
B) It’ll just feel like I’m glorifying particular characters, regardless of if they’re well-written or not
C) Fan fiction has a bad name, especially in the brony fandom, so I’d probably be looked down upon by those I’m trying to appeal to

My life is nothing than an endless blur or depression, suicidal thoughts and rage. The onl, thing seems to be able to keep me happy is that I am a bit crazy.
But I sure am sick of my life. It’s no fun to juggle with anxiety all the time while I have to rot in my ‘job’. Hell I even bated my old full time job because I have no freedom at all.
I really want to be an artist but I am so exhausted emotionally all I can do is to day dream as hard as I can to burn my life away quick. And I totally not having self control or self confodence to even doodle more than once every 3 month.
I passed my limits years ago. I think I saw everything that I am meant to be. What is the point of being alive for me. I really have no reason to be not suicidal.
Only reason that I was never able to do the right thing are
1 I hate pain and most ways take too long
2 Whatever personality I left still says I can be an artist and I should stay
3 I don’t know if these thoughts are mine or not
4 ponies talked out of me a few times
I am just tired.

Yes. It is. People can get emotionally attached to anything. For me the fandom gave me a hell of a time.

Sure she needs more love from the writers. And ponies did changed a bit in later seasons.
But she isn’t useless. She is just different than the other main ponies. I couod say that Pinkie is rather zen. She lives in the present and acts on it.
If we look at the show she pretty much saved all of Equestria in the first two episodes by making the party for Twilight. She got the elements together and shown them that where is Twilight staying so they could follow her back home and go together to the Everfree forest. Nightmare moon would have steam rolled Twilight and the show would have been rather short.
I think this is why she is actually hard to write. She is spontaneous but she is also aware of the boundaries. She is not supposed to be Teen Titans Go tier random.
I think Filly Vanilli is a good example when the writer has a problem understanding the character.
If we look at fighting she just rarelly doesn’t get in the situation much. She handled changellings as well as the others and even used Twilight as a gun.
Maybe season 7 will have more time with her and her bonding with her friends.

Some-odd 96% of people are straight. It’s not homophobic to assume a guy is talking about a girl when you call and say “relationship issues”. It’s actually a pretty reasonable assumption to make, statistically speaking.

about rule #0, he sayed that i should kill myself, yea, he did, but he never did it here, he never posted anything here saying those things, so i dont think is a rule violation if is not posted directly in here, because i sayed “hey, he told me to kill myself 3 times in another chat “ not in any part of derpibooru

about rule 8#, i dont see al this like personal information, i sayed that i live in chile to justify my multiple grammar errors, about the black mail, i sayed “he has photos og me doing some explicit things” never sayed what, or how, or what part of the body are shown

Understood. But when these get reported, we have to moderate them. So now we’re in the unenviable position of trying to figure out if we should delete any of these posts because of personal information (rule #8), personal attacks (rule #0), report people to the authorities as credible risks for self harm, or just lock the whole thread for awhile because now some people are asking us, the staff, to take sides in a very personal, and what would normally be a very private, relationship discussion.
It is like if people asked the staff at a restaurant to moderate a domestic dispute. It shouldn’t be any of our business, but mow it is.

Even if there are professionals here this is not a “safe space” for these kinds of discussions. Trolls can wander by at any time and harvest the information in these discussions, and all of this is showing up in Google searches now.
If individuals here need professional help they should get professional help.
And couples who are having relationship issues that they need to work out amongst themselves should work it out amongst themselves - including the entire community in this way is resulting in some very odd misunderstandings that are starting to show up in the reports queue as people telling each other to kill themselves.

In addition to what Mike said, the two of you should please take your personal relationship issues to PMs or to a relationship counselor. This is a pony image booru - not the Jerry Springer show, and some of the personal information in your public posts are getting really close to Rule #8.

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
