I always wanted to go to one of the European cons but could never justify the airfare, was always running near the $1k range and that was pretty much my whole con budget, Canada I managed to do for just $400 which was a much better alternative lol
Wonder if G5 will inspire any new conventions or convince any existing ones to switch themes a bit now that’s it’s injected a bit of new life into things
 
It’d be awesome to see conventions come to the East Coast, preferably ones that I could drive to within a few hours - I could technically afford airfare, but I’d prefer to avoid consuming vacation time. Though I’m seriously considering going to Trotcon in December.

We have not established that that is a thing in this universe. There is a difference between being a leader who can set things up for your subject (as Celestia was to Twilight), being an inspiration and example to aspire to (as Twilight was to Sunny), and some force literally controlling/influencing Sunny’ actions directly. If you really want to go with the last interpretation… Wouldn’t Sunny’s gods be the writers?

Celestia was a goddess too. It was confirmed that she was working behind the scenes to make sure Twilight succeeded.

The point is that historians say that our love for stories is rooted in the same part of our brain that causes religious ideas, hence why fantasy stories should keep religious ideas and ancient worldviews in mind.

More like Yoda is how Twilight would go if she had to. But in every case, they live on forever, just as Yoda did.
 
Yoda confronted Palpatine only to have to flee and hide for the rest of his life in the hope that his plan around the Skywalker twins would lead to the redemption of the galaxy from the dark regime that had been introduced. It was in the last movie we understood why; not only was Palpatine too strong, he was also able to assimilate anyone who killed him in anger and rage. Yoda realized that his anger made him vulnerable, and had to flee the duel.
 
We will find out what had happened to the valley where Everfree, Ponyville and the old Canterlot once lay. That may be where Twilight failed and had to flee as Yoda had done, just as the magic began to disappear in Equestria.

No, she was working through Sunny. In Christianity, it’s called the Holy Spirit, but the concept of a God controlling you is a classical concept. In Star Wars, it’s called the Force.

Yes, it may be, but she will not go out until she has seen Sunny win the final victory, until then she will stay in the background and possibly participate in the final battle where all other heroines and heroes including the royal sisters will also participate. We saw this when Rey confronted Palpatine, Jedi verse Sith. She will solve the oldest riddle, can an alicorn die? When it’s over, she will be gone with all her friends and relatives from G4, while a new world with Sunny and her friends will continue into a bright future.

I’m okay with Twilight being around somewhere (Though I expect something akin to a Luke in Last Jedi approach, otherwise she would have stepped in far sooner, unless she’s trapped somewhere) but I do not want her to be the one who actually saved the day. Let Sunny have her victory.
 
Agree. This is what Twilight wants, she wants to let Sunny win, the young pony will save the day for probably not only Equestria or the Ponychild, but also the whole world. Only then could she retire for good and join her friends. Like Celestia, she wants to see Sunny be ready for her fate. It’s going to be bittersweet at the end of the G5 when Twilight goes the same way as Luke and Leia.

I’d say the inspiration was just as much from her father, and I never got the idea that Twilight was anymore a goddess than Celestia or Luna. They’re just ponies; Long-lived and powerful, perhaps, but not goddesses.

Sunny isn’t God, Twilight basically is in the MLP universe. In the religious world, God or the gods do everything good, but sometimes they do it through others. So Twilight essentially saved the day by putting everything in place for Sunny and giving her the encouragement she needs to spread friendship across the universe. 😁
