SA1 and 2 have aged decently in terms of gameplay. For the most part. The camera and some bugs have not, and in SA1’s case, the visuals.

Yeah, Bayonetta has practically become a Nintendo franchise nowadays anyways. In fact, they’re rereleasing both games for Switch, and making a third one. It’s kinda ironic people complain that Nintendo doesn’t have any exclusive “mature/violent” games, then got upset over Bayonetta being Nintendo exclusive now. Which as you said is because Nintendo is the only one who gave a crap to fund it.

SA2 aged prety well, not so much SA1.
 
Also when people say they prefer Drummond voicing Sonic, they meant the VOICE, not necessarily the acting. His current voice actor may act well, but I hate how he sounds for Sonic.

SA1’s Adventure Field hubs were kinda tedious, but they could be more fun and interactive if they remade them. I kinda liked running around them, once I got used to them.

Especially since Microshit and maybe Sony would have run it into the ground and mistreated it. And after MS cancelled Scalebound, I think Platinum should stay with Nintendo.  
Also, an SA1 remake in the hedgehog engine would be great.

SA1’s fields were too small to ever be tedious or confusing imo.

The jungle section of Mystic Ruins was really annoying though. Even with the map in the DX version I still got lost in there rather frequently.

Don’t forget Rareware… I wish Microsoft never bought Rare…
 
I also hope Platinum gets another chance with Star Fox on Switch, and make a better one then SFZero.

They seem huge, and confusing the first time you play them, but they get better the more you play.

Once you figure out where everything is, it’s pretty fast. Especially if you just fly/glide over it all.

I never had a problem with SA1’s hubs, they weren’t overly big like 06.  
Also, I think Nintendo should have bought 100% of Rareware. They’re a shell of their former self now, and I can’t help but feel Sea of Thieves will be a flop for them. Nintendo should honestly buy Platinum games and let them do their thing. Especially since Nintendo isn’t one to meddle in other game developments.

You can actually run on the tree “ceilings” in the temple forest maze area too of the Mystic Ruins, which is fun.

I agree, Nintendo actually gives developers alot of freedom. Some try to spread rumors (like Larry Bundy of Youtube) they didn’t work well with Rare or Argonaut, but that’s not true, and they gave Rare lots more freedom & funding then Microsoft did.

I get that people would prefer Drummond’s take on Sonic, but even then, he still sounds kind of awkward in Adventure 1. I don’t think he necessarily nailed the voice down until Adventure 2.
 
Though I do agree on Sonic’s current voice. I like Roger Craig Smith as a voice actor, but he’s not who I would’ve picked for Sonic’s new voice.

Nintendo just missed the chance to keep Rare, they didn’t mishandle. Also, Larry Bundy did that?

Yeah, Larry apparently doesn’t know much about Nintendo judging by his “top times Miyamoto was a jerk” video, which was made up of mostly rumors, (as opposed to solid facts) and ignorantly included the outdated now-disproven rumor that Miyamoto “hated” DKCountry. (A rumor dating back to all the Nintendo-hating, Rareware-fanboys of the old “DKVine” website.) Miyamoto actually gave Rare advice for the original DKC, helping with it’s development, and it was ironically HIS idea to have Retro Studios revive it. So all the DKC fans bashing him are very ironic.

IIRC, that whole rumor started because Miyamoto was venting about Nintendo trying to force him to make Yoshi’s Island’s artstyle more like DKC’s, and people took his venting out of context.

Also people keep using that one quote that no one can get the real source to prove the authenticity of.

I don’t even know if that’s true anymore, considering I’ve heard conflicting stories to it, like on the SNES Classic Edition site’s “interviews” section, they have a new interview with the SMW & Yoshi’s Island developers that contradicts it.
 
According to it, the hand-drawn art style of Yoshi’s Island was actually already done when DKC came out, so it was “too late” for them to adapt that style. Still, they did put in some 3D effects thanks to the Super FX2 chip.

Ether way, the infamous quote that people like to use to say how Miyamoto hated DKC has no conformable source, just things saying it’s from this or that interview but no one has produced a copy of it last I knew.

Yeah, I’ve never seen said interview either. I think it’s bumpkis somebody probably made up ’cause they were sick of hearing how great Miyamoto was, or something… (or they misunderstood/mistranslated it.)

Tbf I don’t think Larry had ill intentions, maybe he just got his facts wrong because of misinformation.

Well, not everyone likes his games, which is fine. Still he had quite an impact on the gaming industry, and the direction gaming took, so he deserves some kudos. Still, Miyamoto is not perfect, he seems to be having trouble with the Star Fox series to be frank.
 
Yeah, Larry Bundy doesn’t seem to know much about Nintendo stuff, (judging by how his videos hardly ever regard Nintendo games) so it’s likely just misinformation on his part. Especially, considering he’s British, and the NES & Nintendo aren’t very popular in England, I recall.
 
The now obscure 8-bit Sega Master System was a huge hit in Europe though, I hear. (Alex Kid wasn’t bad.) I kinda wish they would rerelease those games on modern systems too.
