That’s actually horrible when we have so many people suffering. As a person who lives in NYC, Amazon wanted to be taxed at low rates and wanted a headquarters with a helipad to be paid for by the city before they considered setting up here.
 
The move would’ve cost millions on the city and would’ve potentially made a lot of local businesses go outta business. It was talked about in the taxi radios and all over but it was good that due to the efforts of AOC, they didn’t set one foot in here.

It’s a scientifically studied fact that the more people have, the more entitled they get.  
Not only having more money doesn’t make people more generous (it’s usually the opposite: making more money only makes them want even more) but it also makes them feel superior to those who have less because they feel they’ve earned it all by their own merit alone. The wealth gap also creates an empathy gap.

Out of the way and little media attention? Did you miss the GF protests? They were plastered all over the news. Really, my issue with the whole thing was all the rioting and looting that obscured the peaceful protesters because when that happened, everyone forgot about it. People began focusing on the businesses being burned down and the like.
 
I condemn the cops for the GF thing but I don’t think the riots were justified. Why? Because it makes people forget why the protest happened to begin with. When a small business owner looked over the charred remains of their livelihood, they won’t give a flying fig who died. They will just be pissed off. Cause the riots aren’t hurting the cops. Its hurting the people who live in these neighborhoods and will have to pick up the pieces after the looters have gone home. They are the ones who suffer, not the cops.
