One method? Sure. These people are extremely wealthy as well as famous. It would be no trouble at all for them to organize an event or appear on TV discussing and drawing attention to their concerns in a way that would make average Americans interested and open to listening. When you start out a protest by jumping straight to disrespecting the anthem of our country, you instantly turn millions of people off from having any interest or respect for what they’re trying to do.

So what he didn’t follow “the flag code”? He still showed respect for the flag by kneeling, if he showed disrespect he would have done something like continue to sit down or worn a hat. But he didn’t, instead he showed respect for the flag in a different way to bring attention to police brutality

It’s not disrespectful because people have the freedom America gave them to pose how they want for the flag. You don’t get to decide what’s disrespectful. Burning a flag is disrespectful to it, kneeling instead of standing is not. If you’re going to preach freedom of speech, it goes both ways.

As it is now it only applies to using an actual flag for clothing, etc (though maybe it should apply to everything, but that would also affect military and police uniforms).

And let me add something else to this conversation that I think is getting lost here: Why do you think those football players got on their knees during the Anthem? Was it because they wanted to disrespect the flag and the anthem and the country? No! They were doing so because they love their country and see that something is seriously wrong and unjust happening that goes against what the U.S. stands for. They and others who are in positions of prominence will use their influence to advocate for change and protest social wrongs, sometimes in very public ways. It is their right to do so, and I support them for it. I stand for what America represents, not ceremonies, songs or cloth.

If you read my previous posts, I said that I’m well aware that it’s their right and I never said it should be taken away. But that just because you have the right to do something doesn’t mean you should. People technically have the right to say racist things, too. Doesn’t mean you should.
