I really gotta post here, before things get too far ahead.

@FuckItsDaytimeAgain

Sure, I’ll post about it here.

According to what I hear, the Hot Air Intake should work on a Gasoline engine. Diesels supposedly benefit from cold intakes, so long as it’s not winter.

@FuckItsDaytimeAgain

Forums seem to have taken a nosedive since 2011, but this one’s still alive. Meanwhile, I’m posting in a specific guitar forum where only I and fewer than 12 other people reply.

I haven’t modded my Explorer recently, but I’d like to put the hot air intake piping back on. It’s meant to go close to the exhaust pipes.

On a recent long 200+ mile trip, on the return trip in the last 70 miles, I was seeing intake temps at 130 - 136 F even without the piping to the exhaust. Maybe it was just hotter outside then, but that’s not usually what happens. I’d see it go to 118 at most uphill these last few weeks, but I don’t often drive the car long enough to usually see that.

I’ve considered putting some fiberglass in the engine bay too, to keep it warm in winter months and shorten warmup time. I got a bunch of fiberglass cheaply in a yard sale, so that’ll work out.

My last tank came out to 20.9 MPG, but I think the pump shut off too early; it was a Sheetz pump (the gas was $2.999 vs $3.359,) and I’m used to pumping at a Citgo station. The on-board computer was reading 20.1 MPG, so I know the pump was off.

I like that feature, but it really isn’t the best when it’s raining. Of course, you could just use an Umbrella.

Also, here’s a pic looking out the windshield of a 1976 Chevrolet Caprice Estate (same Clamshell Wagon platform) and this car’s on eBay now. Here’s the eBay Ad.

This has to be one of the cleanest Clamshells I’ve seen. Even so, it still has some rust that started in one of the rear side window channels, and it has a vinyl roof (which I’m really not a fan of.)

I saved the eBay ad, and all of the photos to my external HDD.

It’s far from over, yet.

These 1971 - 1976 models are really not good to restore if you’re not ready for everything plus 10 kitchen sinks to put in, though. Best be ready, if anyone ever wants to. They’re a challenge, between rust issues and the doors not aligning properly with the gaskets and the body.

I may have seen this one before, but I’m not sure. It’s a 1973 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser in a Cranberry Red with the Woodgrain, and someone going by the screen name Hullinger had one, on the Station Wagon Forum. He bought it from Oregon, had it shipped to Ohio, and he worked on it and drove it for 3,000 miles before selling it to a dealership in Florida.

The ad for this one is in California. Previously, the one Hullinger had was for sale in Florida, and it had been refinished, which he was disappointed in; on his (which I’m still not sure is this one or not,) they didn’t bother to re-paint the dealer name on the tailgate.

Well, this one has comparable mileage, and it’s of comparable condition, and I don’t see a dealer name on the tailgate. I can’t really tell without the VIN, though.

Never seen a grey E-Type, but they’re stunning in silver.

@SaturnCarArtz
You should be proud. The E-Type is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Enzo Ferrari himself spoke highly of it.

Next time I go by the Jaguar, I think I’ll pull over to take a closer look. It’s got me curious now.

I hear they’re real cozy to ride in. However, mind, the tailgate window seals are near impossible to find unless you’re willing to pay some company over $1,000 to re-manufacture them. I don’t own a clam wagon, but I’ve heard plenty about the rear window seals, having spent lots of time at the Station Wagon Forums.

Also, here’s a build thread at the wagon forum for Vetteman61’s 1971 Pontiac Grand Safari Wagon. (72 pages, so far.)

In short: he got it, got it fixed up real nice minus issues like door + seal alignment and the rear window seal, then someone nearly rear-ended him in it, then his wife rear ended someone in it, and it’s been shelved for a few years since then.

He also worked on other cars in the same thread. He’s got a later 50s Chevy Sedan, and a later 70s Caprice 2 Door (which his wife also got rear ended in, she seems like an accident magnet for classics, but maybe not. The Caprice did get fixed up.)

I dont remember where I saw this car.
Everyone always insisted solar panels on cars were useless, I completely disagreed. Eveyone thinks on long range driving, and yeah solar panels wouldn’t increase that much at all, it might even reduce it if it compromises aero.
I think those panels would have easily covered my average driving this summer. I’ve been barely driving other than the trip to EFNW. But a fast charge would cover that.
Unfortunately in undercover parking it would be very unfortunately useless.

The design is not very exciting, but MPVs are growing on me, as an extension of wagons, they are simply some of the most practical setups.

>The lack of suspension and powertrain upgrades for the final few model years of the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro can be chalked up to emissions and/or internal validation costs that simply can’t be justified for the nameplate at this point in time.

I think GM made a right move. In some ways, though I would’ve loved a Electric Camaro. Though I’m guessing that they probably don’t wanna have the backlash Ford got when they revealed the Mach-E.
